1) Electronic Travel Authority (Subclass 601)
Visit Australia as often as you wish in a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia.

2) Tourist stream (apply outside Australia) (Subclass 600)
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to go on a cruise or to visit family and friends.

Up to 12 months
With this visa you can
- Visit Family or Friends
- Be here as a tourist, for a cruise, or for purposes other than business or medical treatment
You must
- Intend to come to Australia to visit only
- Have enough money for your stay in Australia
- Not Work in Australia
- You Must be Outside Australia When you Apply and When decision comes
3) Tourist stream (apply in Australia) (Subclass 600)
This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to visit family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.

- Be here as a tourist, for a cruise, or for purposes other than Business or Medical Treatment
You must
- Intend to stay in Australia to visit only
- Have enough money for your stay in Australia
- Be in Australia when you apply and when we decide your application
4) Business visitor stream (Subclass 600)
This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons.
Stay
Up to 3 months
With this visa you can
- Make general business or employment enquiries
- Negotiate Contracts
- Take part in a conference or trade fair. You can't be paid by the organisers to take part
You must
- Be a genuine visitor travelling to Australia for business visitor activities
- Be outside Australia when you apply and when decision comes your application
5) Sponsored family stream (subclass 600)
This visa stream lets people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, come to Australia to see their family members.
Stay
Up to 12 months
With this visa you can
- See Family or Friends
- Cruise or have a holiday
- Study or train for up to 3 months
You must
- Have a sponsor
- Intend to come to Australia as a visitor only
6) eVisitor (Subclass 651)
Visit Australia as often as you wish in a 12-month period. Stay up to 3 months each time you enter Australia.
Stay
Up to 3 months at a time
With this visa you can
- Visit Family or Friends
- Cruise or have a holiday
- Undertake business visitor activities
- Study or train for up to 3 months, in some circumstances
You must
- Apply from outside Australia
- Hold a passport from a particular country
7) Transit visa (Subclass 771)
This visa allows you up to 72 hours to transit Australia. If you also hold a Maritime Crew visa, you can use this visa to fly to Australia to join an eligible ship as a crew member (within 5 days of arriving)
Stay
No longer than 72 hours
With this visa, you can
- Transit through Australia for no longer than 72 hours
- Enter Australia by air before joining the crew of an eligible ship as a Maritime Crew visa (subclass 988) holder, within 5 days of your arrival.
You must
- Be outside Australia
- Be transiting Australia, have evidence of a confirmed booking to travel to another country within 72 hours of arriving in Australia with the correct documents to enter that country
- If joining the crew of an eligible ship, hold a Maritime Crew visa and the necessary crew documents, and sign on to your ship within 5 days of your arrival.
8) Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
For young adults who want an extended holiday and to work here to fund it
a) First Work and Holiday visa
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) have an extended holiday in Australia and work here to help fund their trip
Stay
12 months
With this visa you can
- Do short- term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday
- Study for up to 4 months
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want
- Do 3 months of specified subclass 462 work to become eligible for a second Work and Holiday visa
You must
- Have a passport from an eligible country
- Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive)
- Apply from outside Australia
- Not be accompanied by dependent children or family members
- Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or 417 visa. If you previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 visa, see the second Work and Holiday visa.
b) Second Work and Holiday visa
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a Work and Holiday visa, have a second working holiday in Australia.

12 months
With this visa you can
- Do short- term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday
- Study for up to 4 months
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want
- Do 6 months of specified subclass 462 work to become eligible for a third Work and Holiday visa
You must
- Have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 visa. If you haven’t, see the first Work and Holiday visa
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago
- Have a passport from an eligible country
- Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive)
- Have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work
- Not be accompanied by dependent children or family members
c) Third Work and Holiday visa
This visa lets people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who currently hold, or who have held, a second Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa, have a third working holiday in Australia.

12 months
With this visa you can
- Do short- term work in Australia to help pay for your holiday.
- Study for up to 4 months
- Travel to and from Australia as many times as you want
You must
- Have previously held 2 subclass 462 visas in Australia. If you haven’t, see the first Work and Holiday visa or second Work and Holiday visa
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago
- Have a passport from an eligible country
- Be 18 to 30 years old (inclusive)
- Have undertaken 6 months of specified subclass 462 work
- Not be accompanied by dependent children or family members
